What's Dropping ⚡️

Ape Fest Goes HAM

BAYC is taking NFT's to new heights, and owners are getting experiences of a lifetime. This week during NFT NYC, owners of Bored Apes and Mutant Apes from the BAYC collection were granted access to an exclusive "Warehouse Party" event at Brooklyn Steel in New York. The event had a capacity of 2,000 members and wristbands were handed out to NFT owners based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those lucky enough to make it in undoubtedly made it to the most successful event of the entire week.

Luckily two members of our team were able to attend the event IRL

Aziz Ansari joked about how NFT's came out 7 months ago and then introduced Beck, the first surprise musical guest of the night. Chris Rock introduced The Strokes and roasted anti-vaxxers. Questlove DJ'd, and Lil Baby talked about how he mutated his Ape before he closed out the night with an epic performance. It was a legendary event that is guaranteed to bring about even more FOMO to the NFT and crypto space for those without an Ape in their wallet. This event emphasizes how quickly BAYC is growing to become cultural icons through their streetwear brand, social clubs, member-only events, and (as we've talked about before) mainstream media presence.

Creature World

Bored Ape Yacht Club wasn't the only popping event in NYC. Creature World put on an insane event and I (Gannon) was lucky enough to witness it.

Enter the Matrix

The Metaverse is being built to make reality and virtual reality nearly indistinguishable. Mark Zuckerberg describes it as the "embodied internet." Imagine the day when the physical world is so clouded by the virtual world that one can barely tell the two apart— sounds a bit like the Matrix.

Ironically enough, The Matrix (yes, the actual film) is about to step into this digital world through a collection of 100,000 “Matrix” avatar NFTs, available exclusively on Niftys. Each avatar will be priced at $50, and the sell-out will rake in an extra $5 million for the release of their film, The Matrix Resurrections, premiering December 22nd in theaters and on HBO Max.

For collectors, this NFT avatar doesn't stop at a new profile picture. Sales will begin Nov. 30, 2021 to own a base avatar, locked in the Matrix. But beginning December 16 owners will be given the choice to take a “Red Pill" which will transform their avatars, unlocking them from the Matrix, and upgrading their appearance. If the owners deny the Red Pill, they will be given the alternative choice to take the "Blue Pill" and remain locked in the Matrix.

This will all lead up to the release of the film on December 22nd. On the official film website, you can take the red or blue pill early— though not in NFT form. There haven't been any big announcements about the NFT collection posted on the official socials for the film, but they did tweet a photo of the Red and Blue Pills with the caption "#Meta" which might trip some people out and make them think a little more carefully about the Metaverse.
