What's Dropping ⚡

  • $APE coin had a volatile day trading due to the massive amount of BAYC receiving and selling. Needless to say after the large pump and dump at the open it has steadily risen significantly to $11.58 (at the time of writing)!

  • Filmmaker & Multidisciplinary Artist Kira Bursky releases Magic Mind collection in celebration of mental health awareness. These incredibly unique abstract pieces represent different struggles and issues many of us deal with daily, and will be making massive donations to a number of charities. Mint is running live now.

  • GMoney launches brick-breaker, a fully on-chain game NFT. This innovative game is playable by anyone, but only the owner can record high scores.

  • Azuki went on a run with a huge amount of sales on Thursday. Might have been the land tease announcement by Zagabond. Sounds like the mystery will be solved on the 30th at the Azuki Garden Party in West Hollywood.

  • Walking Dead NFTs by Orange Comet are set to reveal tomorrow. After a long wait, holders are crowding and clamoring for a glimpse at the grisly graphics. The collection comes in the form of generated 3d zombies in stasis, and are revealing today, March 18.

  • NFT project The Lobstars aims to release one lobster into the wild for each NFT sold. Created by British contemporary artist Philip Colbert and backed by Whitby Lobster Hatchery, this adorable collection is tapping in to the hearts of both animal activists and art collectors.

  • Cloud Yachts has recently made the worlds first NFT superyacht sale. The owner of the digital boat will also own the vessel in it's fully realized physical form. This NFT will have its metadata continuously updated to accurately represent the vision of the owner, and the innovation of the vessel's builders. This could inspire more digital expression with like companies.

GNSS Up Next? 👤

Let's get one thing straight, PFPs are not going anywhere anytime soon, and we are only in the beginning stages of their adoption. Bubbly characters with bright colors, or more reclusive figures with subdued tones play a critical role in the human experience found on Web3. CryptoPunks represent the first instance of humanizing Web3, and that experiment has resulted in the flourishing social ecosystem that we are currently immersed in. But what’s next?

There are of course various utilities that PFP projects have added, such as staking for coins, which has certainly spiced things up a bit. There is also the avant-garde maneuver that GNSS by MGXS has made, turning the minting process into a decision-making game. First, you buy a seed, and then that seed allows you to mint one GNSS among ten possible choices that you are exposed to. Once you are shown a variant, you cannot return to it; your choice not to mint a particular item is permanent, and you are cycled to the next option. These types of engagement techniques are certainly fascinating, but they don’t intervene at the level of the PFP itself.

On Tuesday’s newsletter drop we’ll be sharing a project that will most likely create a new generation of derivative PFP projects. This is because it represents the first attempt at creating a widely accessible NFT that possessesdynamic&expressive capabilities. The static image PFP will soon have to contend with dynamic and animated PFP projects, and we’re excited to see this chapter of NFTs unfold.

Ragnarök Discord Hack 🚨

In recent times, we’ve been more frequently hearing about projects suffering through Discord hacks, in which a malicious actor enters the Discord, and subsequently links to an ill-natured website. That link is doctored to look legitimate, but its sole purpose serves to steal the funds and assets from unsuspecting victims that happen to click on the link. One recent hack occurred within the Ragnarök project, which ultimately accounted for 30.971 ETH stolen from 67 different victims. Luckily, the team acted swiftly and were able to reimburse the victims of the hack with the matching amount of ETH that had been lost, along with the assets/NFTs that was also stolen as a result.

In the future, projects should prioritize the security of their Discord, in order to protect the community they work so diligently to build. Holders of projects rely on the Discord for accurate information; information that they can bank on in order to best serve their investment. With certain projects, if a link is posted, a member of the said community won’t think twice before clicking. The FOMO complex still exists, even with big-name projects. Along with projects, individuals should also be cautious. Turn on Two Factor Authentication. Do not click any links that are sent to you by direct message. Better yet, turn off your DMs. And, if something is too good to be true, odds are, that is indeed the case. Watch your back. WAGMI.
