Record labels have taken advantage of artists for decades. Countless artists are in debt to labels because of the one-sided methodology used to structure their deals. Artists are trapped into deals in which the label owns them and their work. In an effort to redeem this space, MoonwalkerFM has found a better way through NFT's. This solution not only benefits artists, but the community who supports those artists— a mutually beneficial relationship!

Background

Moonwalker FM is an entire universe that is creating a plethora of meaningful experiences, on and off the blockchain. They are building out a world people can resonate with and have a kind of deeper, soul-experience. Even prior to launch, the team is finding ways to incorporate these meaningful experiences. During a whitelist competition, participants dove into the Moonwalker lore to discover the ancient tape (containing Lo-Fi music) which brought a sense of ease, relaxation and calmness to their species.

Moonwalker FM is the first NFT record label of its kind offering rewards to holders in a way that’s never been done before. Every NFT minted will be paired with a full-length Lo-Fi song. There will be 50 songs per "season" and 10 seasons per year (including 1 season in 2021). And for whichever songs your Moonwalkers are associated with, you will take home up to 45% of the value of streaming profits in the form of rewards, depending on the rarity of your Moonwalker. Yup! More rarity means more opportunity for revenue.

Here's how it will work: A "season" (containing 50 songs) will be released on Spotify and iTunes music. Holders can then head over to see if their Moonwalker is associated with one of the 50 songs in that season. The Moonwalker NFT will match the artwork in the cover of the song. Two Moonwalkers will be associated with each song. Reward distributions will be made after the quarterly bookkeeping assessment (4 times per year). Additionally, all Moonwalker owners get access to events, merch, alt reality games, and exclusive comps that only holders can win.

Team

The team is all about positive energy, transparency and a good time. Compromised of about a dozen incredibly talented individuals, each person brings something a little different to the table. Jordan and Cameron are co-founders. Cameron has 8+ years experience in the music industry and 2+ years leading large teams developing apps and games. Jordan has worked alongside Cameron for many years, is a long time crypto holder and an excellent creative mind. He's grown various social pages exponentially and focuses on developing strategies for implementation.

Jelmer (Music Promotion & Playlist Lead) is a long time player of the music industry, specializing in playlist growth & music stream promotion. Nico (Tech Lead) is an experienced web developer and has assisted in the launch of various successful NFT projects! Laura and Cynellie are the artists behind the project. Laura is the original concept artist of the Moonwalker— an elite artist with a wealth of experience in & out of the NFT space! Cynellie is a young and talented artist who is shaping the visual design of the Moonwalker universe. Olla handles the day to day operations of the Moonwalker community. And finally The Drop's very own Vondoom is working alongside the Moonwalker marketing team.
