Crypto Market 📈

Data as of 9/26 5 pm EST

Market Update:

After an unstable week in the crypto markets due to the China "crypto ban" announcement, it looks like we were able to find a good foothold and regain some traction over the weekend. As the saying goes, "the weekends are for crypto".

Snoop 🐳

It's no secret that celebrities and athletes are bull-rushing into the NFT space. One of the first big celebrities to lead the charge was iconic rapper, Snoop Dogg.

Last Thursday Snoop confirmed that the account "Cozomo de’ Medici" was indeed a pseudonym he was using for all his NFT tweets and OpenSea transactions. It's estimated that this 522 NFT portfolio has roughly $17 million worth of NFTs and this number is growing by the day.

If you want to see his massive collection click here.

As stated before, other athletes and celebs have dived into NFTs headfirst such as Steph Curry, Paris Hilton, Jake Paul, Steve Harvey, and Lindsay Lohan just to name a few.

Another celeb worth noting is Steve Aoki who aped into CoolCatsNFT in style.

Was Steve Aoki's purchase what set in motion the push past 10 ETH floor price? The world will never know for sure but I have a feeling it definitely helped. The notoriety of holders is crucial for a project's success. It will be interesting to see what celebrities get into the space next!

Twitter will "soon" support NFT authentication?

Rumor has it, Twitter will "soon" be releasing a feature that will support authentication of your NFT's. So how much longer can you pretend to own a $20M Bored Ape NFT simply by making it your Twitter profile picture? Well, Twitter announced last week that it will be partnering with the Strike App (basically Venmo built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network). This partnership will allow users to tip creators using bitcoin— and rumor has it, eventually support authentication of your NFT's! But is this true?

Twitter published a blog this week about its partnership with Strike. However, there is no word about said "NFT authentication." So where is this rumor coming from? The Verge posted an article which stated an unnamed spokesperson from Twitter said, "NFT authentication will come in the form of a badge, shown on profile pictures, marking the owner’s NFT as authentic.” This article from Tech Crunch states that this information may have come from a press briefing and Q&A session. I don't mean to burst our bubbles fam, but there is no real proof of this statement from the unknown, mysterious spokesperson from Twitter.

With that said, tipping in bitcoin is a big deal, affirming its status as a true digital currency. But I wouldn't get your hopes up about authentication of your NFT's on Twitter just yet.

Word of the Day

Minting: This is a term used to describe how NFTs are produced. Minting is the process in which digital art is embedded via digital signature into the blockchain which is a secure, unalterable, public ledger. The term comes from when fiat metal coins were created they would say the coin was "minted".
