BAM wants to make a boom

Hyperliquid dominates perps trading. More than $92 billion in perps are traded on Hyperliquid per week right now, more than three times the volume of all DEXs on Solana combined, per Blockworks Research data.

Jito Labs is gunning to make Solana a better venue for both builders and perps traders — reducing exploitation by sandwich attackers while serving transactions faster and cheaper. 

Lucas Bruder, CEO at Jito Labs, joined Lightspeed to give a detailed breakdown of the firm’s new Block Assembly Marketplace (BAM), the block builder on which the future of Solana could hinge.

And how does Bruder see Solana’s position in the crypto space, in a world where BAM is widely adopted and the code is open source?

“I would say there are much healthier markets onchain and much more liquidity. Hopefully can actually see order books be successful onchain…  better outcomes for users,” he said.

Bruder explained that one of the reasons people go and try to create their own chain is because they want more control over the market structure of their applications.

“Hopefully the BAM is enough for them to come back and some of the reasons for launching these other chains just, like, goes away.”
