Cool Cats' New CEO: Stephen Teglas 🐱

One thing that we have come to know is that when a project team gets quiet, there’s something brewing in the background. This time, it’s an announcement from one of the pioneers of the NFT space: Cool Cats.

Yesterday, the Cool Cats team announced that Stephen Teglas would be onboarding as the Chief Executive Officer. With experience with big organizations, such as Disney and Warner Bros, Stephen has the experience and professional know-how to turn the Cool Cats brand into, hopefully, something huge. Also having spent time at Recur, Stephen understands the Web3 ecosystem and what is needed to prosper in it.

Ever since NFT NYC, people have been wondering what’s happening with the Cool Cats. Laying dormant for some time holders became more and more skeptical of the brand and its future. With this announcement from the team, holders should be more assured that their investment in the brand isn’t going to waste. They’re building. And from what we know, the Cool Cats have a robust foundation to build upon, including time in the space, likeness, and recognizability. Coupled with a cache of resources, the Cool Cats should be a project to watch in the coming months. WAGMI. And congrats, Stephen!

OpenRarity Comes to OpenSea 📈

September 14th marked the debut of a fresh and innovative rarity protocol named OpenRarity. As most of us know, there are a plethora of ranking protocols that exist and rely on varying and unstated methodologies. OpenRarity is the product of a number of communities and developers coming together to create a mathematically grounded and transparent standard for NFT ranking. OpenSea for the first time will display rarity directly on its UX with the OpenRarity protocool.

OpenSea will leave it up to the creator of any given collection to opt into displaying the rarity of their collection on OpenSea, if they choose to its as simple as toggling it on through the settings section. The intent behind OpenRarity was to have a single source of truth for NFT rarity ranking and to make the source-code or its truth open and available to all. Curio, icy.tools, PROOF, OpenSea, LooksRare, X2y2, Coinbase, Gem, Rarible, Moonbirds, Pudgy Penguins and Cool Cats include the various communities that collaborated to bring this protocol to life. Icy.tools has also gone live with OpenRarity and we can expect a rapid adoption by most marketplaces in the coming days.

This is a step in the right direction for OpenSea because this is a feature that the community has been inquiring about for quite some time. Good things happen when companies listen to their communities!

Okay Bears Joins IMG 🐻

As part of the mission of amplifying the WAGBO message and brand reach, Okay Bears becomes the first Web3 brand to join IMG's incredible list of brands like 7up, Angry Birds, Bugatti, Bundesliga, Ducati, Fast & Furious, Fortnite, Lamborghini, Maserati, NFL, Pepsi, Transformers, UFC, Volkswagen & more. An official announcement was made known to the public on Tuesday that the Web3 brand of Bears has committed to IMG to unlock the brand’s potential through strategic product licensing and collaborations.

Despite being a subsidiary of Endeavor; a global sports and entertainment company, IMG has grown over the years to attain a global leading position in sports, fashion, events, and media. The company manages some of the world's greatest athletes and fashion icons. They own and operate hundreds of live events annually, and it's a leading independent producer and distributor of sports and entertainment media.

The deal will see IMG work with Okay Bears to facilitate meaningful collaborations across all categories that reflect the brand’s values and provide Okay Bears’ active global community with engaging products and experiences.

It's worth noting that since its launch, Okay Bears has made collaboration with NBA athlete Lonzo Ball and official NBA supplier Wilson, and has been recently been represented at the 2022 UK Ferrari Challenge Coppa Shell championship at Silverstone by Jason Ambrose.
