What's Dropping ⚡️

  • Last month we covered AMC's walking dead NFTs, and this month AMC will be dropping Daryl Dixon Motorcycle NFTs. If you are familiar with the show, you are familiar with the bike that fan-favorite character Daryl rides throughout the grisly series. Dropping today April 14, 5,000 pieces at .08ETH.

  • The biggest loss in crypto history?? We recently covered Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's tweet that originally sold for $2.9M USD. The newest owner listed it for auction last week for about $48M USD, but sadly the highest bid only reached about $480. Though it seems the owner has good intentions and wishes to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity. They have two days to accept the bid before it expires.

  • Sports clothing brand Underarmor has recently filed a trademark for their name in the metaverse. The company is hoping to compete with NIKE when it comes to virtual sports apparel.

  • Pick up a Solana NFT from a vending machine on the streets of NYC. Company Neon has placed the machine at  29 John St. in lower Manhattan and has random NFTs for sale within the price range of $5.99 to $420.69 (no joke!).

  • Is ETH 2.0 lurking in the weeds? The concept has been talked about for over a year, now. Some speculate about a Q3 release this year, others are calling Vitalik's bluff.

  • Are omnichain NFTs the future? There is a huge and clear dividing line between blockchains and their corresponding tokens, that trickles down into the communities. While some aficionados dabble in many coins, many focus on one, or a few. A few recent projects have been leaning heavily into the idea of NFTs that are held on multiple networks simultaneously. Don't be surprised if you hear this term thrown around a lot more in the coming weeks.

  • Many are turned off by Meta's announcement about taking nearly 50% of earnings from every sale in its metaverse platform Horizon Worlds. There is confusion in the community regarding this high cut, with many plastering the words "Not my metaverse!" over Zuckerberg's face.

  • Former astronaut Scott Kelly launches 1st NFT, raises $500,000 to support Ukraine (space.com).

Behind the most successful projects in this space are a dedicated development team, a unique and authentic vision, and a desire to impart something lasting and memorable to the people of the world. Believe it or not, there are good actors in this space. When @notsofat’s Lotus project got DCMA’d he returned everybody’s ETH to their respective wallets promptly and kept things transparent with the community. Good faith actors are the reason new people enter the world of NFTs daily. Against the foreground of ethical and honorable actors are individuals seeking to exploit the trust of people who are essential to bringing visions alive. 

Celebrities, on one hand, have notoriously been bad actors in the NFT space... 

Floyd's recent project "Mayweverse" was an impending rug pull from a mile away that even most novice NFT investors could sniff out the scam. So far, Mayweather has used his celebrity status to lead people astray across multiple crypto and NFT projects - infamously including his latest one that many other celebs shilled endlessly for ... Bored Bunny. But it seems (fortunately) the space has now developed a type of collective consciousness about what marks a project as an obvious rug pull. In this case, Floyd Mayweather’s name is synonymous with "rug" it's easy to spot. Largely due to his project website looking like a bad ponzi scheme, since its launch, only 129/5000 NFTs Maywevers NFTs have been minted. This is a collective success for the NFT space. It's the community’s duty to reject dishonorable people and dishonorable projects, and today marks a resounding success.

Each figurine will cost $222 USD and will be sold exclusively on the Superplastic.co website. On the website, you will be able to connect your wallet in order to access all the non-public exclusive colorways (essentially saying that if you own an Ape you will be able to pick out that specific colorway).

According to HypeBeast, "The schedule of the drop will play out as follows: BAYC NFT holders will get access to “BAYC Curtis” for 15 minutes; Superplastic Cryptojankyz & Headtripz NFT holders get access to “Superplastic Skipper” for 15 minutes; MAYC NFT holders get access to “MAYC Curtis” for 15 minutes; and the general public will gain access to “Public Curtis” and “Public Skipper” for 15 minutes."
