Yuga Labs Appoints New CEO 🎖️

With the year ending, projects and companies in web3 are certainly thinking about how they’ll be able to set themselves up for success in 2023. That being said, Yuga Labs is appointing a new CEO, Daniel Alegre, to spearhead their efforts in the new cycle.

Alegre, who was also the COO at Activision Blizzard since early 2020, is being brought on to replace Nicole Muniz, who has been in the position for approximately a year and will stay as a partner and strategic advisor, as CEO. Under Nicole’s guidance, the brand focused on the lifestyle sector by creating a worldwide brand with mass recognition through apparel and celebrity enrollment. But with Alegre, that focus looks to be changing towards gaming, with Yuga really trying to change the way that they’re portrayed in the market and focusing primarily on its Otherside metaverse. They don’t just want to be the really cool expensive Ape NFTs. They want to control gaming and set a standard for what Web3 gaming should look like, and Alegre being at the helm is a great first step for the organization to meet that goal.

💡 The DropYuga Labs is by far the most centralized-functioning web3 company that exists today. Not only have they raised money in a traditional “round” with A16z and many others, but they've employed already successful people in web2 to bring their talents to web3. The gaming industry is seen to be very hard to infiltrate and Yuga will have to go leaps and bounds to compete with the major players in the space. Poaching execs from Activision Blizzard's executive team is a massive move in the right direction and will give Yuga and the entire BAYC universe the fuel it needs to continue to succeed in this space.

Amazon Set To Onboard Millions đź“ş

For the bulk of the population, nobody knows what a nonfungible token is and Amazon is on a mission to change that with its new documentary series NFTMe. Bezos is actually gonna be the one to take us to the moon.

đź’ˇ So what is NFTMe?

  • MTV of NFTs… is what the film producer and director are going for with the new series. Their goal is to be the hub that people tune to when they want clearly communicated information about NFTs.

  • Fifty NFTers Reppin… the sex thirty minute episodes will cover an array of pioneers in the space. This will include Refik Anadol, Susaye Greene, Peter Rafelson and Cheryl Douglas.

  • Fly on the wall… the audience will have the opportunity to spend time alongside artists in the space and understand the reasons why they chose to adopt NFTs and in what ways the technology served their needs.

💡 The DropIn a world where the general reputation of NFTs/crypto is tarnished daily because of some unfortunate events that have transpired during the bear market, Amazon is bringing a needed facelift to the space. Effective communication with the public is essential in making the world of web3 appealing to the masses. Most people don’t understand its fundamental functionality, and this venture should change that and Amazon with its infinite resources is up for the challenge.
