Doodles Raise $54 Million 💰

Officially announced yesterday, the Doodles ecosystem has raised a $54 million Series A round at a valuation of approximately $704 million. On that note, sales immediately started surging afterward to the tune of up to 8.25 ETH, at the time of writing. The Dooplicator and Genesis Box floors also rose in tandem with the original collection, sitting comfortably at 1.17 ETH and 0.25 ETH, respectively.

Since NFT NYC, the team has been discussing a funding round being in the cards, but the valuation was not what most expected, except for Doodles maxis. Led by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s VC firm, Seven Seven Six, the round also includes the likes of FTX Ventures and Acrew Capital. With all these firms in the mix, we’re seeing the Doodles gain even more sophistication than before. The funding will be used to foster a team that will take their project to the next level, while also focusing on product development, acquisitions and the like.

If you aren't familiar with Doodles, here is a great breakdown below:

For quite some time now, Doodles holders have been upset. Angry to the point of selling at insane losses. Largely, this is due to the oversaturation of supply in their ecosystem, as they have multiple projects underway. Yesterday’s announcement is their way of showing the community that they understand the concerns and that they’re acting in a manner to provide their holders the value they were promised, to be “the most important Web3 native entertainment brand in the world”. Next week, the Doodles will release 18 positions on their career page in order for people to apply to be a part of their internal team. According to the team, “All of these hires will be meticulously crafted to accomplish Doodles’ long-term goal of being the most important Web3 native entertainment brand in the world.” Doodles, YGMI.

Grammy Award Winning Artists Join KINGSHIP 🎙

On November 11th, the first NFT-based virtual band came together under the stage name KINGSHIP. Fortifying and supporting this revolutionary music group is none other than Universal Music Group, through their specialized Web3 music label by the name of 10:22PM. After the announcement of its inception, things remained relatively quiet up until last month, when KINGSHIP joined forces with Mars to issue a limited edition run of Bored Ape KINGSHIP M&Ms. Many in the Web3 space have been eagerly waiting for the shape KINGSHIP forms as far as its music is concerned, and some promising news has emerged.

Critically acclaimed, well-renowned and Grammy award-winning musicians Hit-Boy and James Fauntleroy are officially signed on as part of KINGSHIP’s sonic creative team, and the two will also serve as the group’s co-executive producers. Both James and Hit-Boy are optimistic and passionate about this futuristic endeavor that will begin building bridges between the Web3 world, and the entertainment world. As the idea of virtual performers becomes increasingly mainstream, it will be exciting to see the ways that people leverage digital assets to represent their most unique musical and creative ideas.

SolSwipe Adds Solana Debit Card 💳

The SolSwipe protocol has stepped in to add yet another use case or value to crypto and NFT enthusiasts in the form of a debit card. With this, SolSwipe users will receive their unique SolSwipe debit card which gives them access to use their cryptocurrency in form of a debit card without the ‘hassle’ of sending cryptocurrencies through major exchanges.

Although some of the biggest exchanges have done something like this, SolSwipe doesn't see them as competitors but has instead used them as a reference for this business model to improve in most aspects where they seem to be falling off. Most exchanges are limited by regulatory reasons and compliance issues. The SolSwipe protocol is able to cater to global market users and is not limited by the same compliance issues. It is built for the community and by the community hence their reason for taking the NFT route.

Users do not need the SolSwipe card NFT to receive the debit card but owning one gives you access to perks like lower loading fees when using the SolSwipe debit card, rewards and royalties through the staking process, and a possible airdrop. The NFTs were minted out on Monday and it's currently sitting at the floor price of 2.39 Solana as at the time of writing. The beta testing phase of the debit card has been successful cards and are ready to be redeemed. It comes in 3 tiers, the black tier, and the silver and gold which will be manufactured in metal and can be used after the loading process anywhere Visa and UnionPay are approved.
