What's Dropping ⚡️

  • Tech startup, Americana Technologies, raised $6.9M in funding for their company which is making it possible for brands to authenticate products on the blockchain through NFTs. It is the first Web3 marketplace for real products, and they are launching this summer.

  • Beeple, often regarded as the most famous independent artist in the NFT space, has been creating a masterpiece every day for 15 years straight. The other night he was on Jimmy Fallon and forgot to post his daily design that he calls his "everydays". See his thoughts on it here. Needless to say, he is massively bummed.

  • Kraken announced the launch of their NFT Marketplace, and opened a waitlist for users. The marketplace will even track the rarity scores of your NFTs!

  • Yesterday during Starbucks’ quarterly earnings report, they coffee company confirmed plans to roll out Starbucks Digital Community Web3. This confirms last months statement from Starbucks CEO, Howard Schulz, regarding the “treasure trove of assets” Starbucks had which could be used “to create a digital NFT platform and business.”

  • CatBlox Genesis Collection holders can now submit claims for a free Season 1 gift, the CatBlox x PUMA T7 track jacket. Free international shipping. No gas is required.

  • Over 530 people have voted for our poll. The people have answered and Friday we will be covering in detail the Twitter space between Gary Vee and Psychedelics Anonymous founder @BAYC2745.

  • Elon Musk is trolling the NFT space by changing his Twitter PFP to a batch of Bored Apes. See here.

One Ones NFT Mints Out 👀

On May 3rd, the OneOnes NFT collection was revealed and the art is nothing short of magnificent. With the allowlist mint completed before the public even had a chance to mint, this project came out the gate with incredibly stable volume.

From Bored Apes to Azuki’s, there are tons of holders of this project that are sweeping the floor nonstop. This is probably due to the fact that the artist behind the project is @MigratingLines, the renowned Foundation.app 1/1 artist. The art that @MigratingLines creates is centered around symmetry and detail. From bold pastel colors to creative Web3-related elements, the art is full of complexity and specificity in its messaging.

The collection features 6,565 companions and according to the project’s in-depth Medium article “will transport you to the hidden Magical World". The OneOnes is an NFT project built on storytelling and interaction and one will allow you to visit the hidden Magical World and revive your inner children. Owning a OneOnes will provide you with a set of powers that will be announced along the way". With OneOnes being the first PFP collection, this is a great entry into what @MigratingLines will create in the future. Are you ready to enter this Magical World? The floor is 0.092 at the time of writing. WAGMI.

Lesson: Take note of projects that feature the art of successful independent artists. Like Doodles' @burnttoast things tend to go well for those types of projects.

Is ZachXBT the NFT Batman? 🦇

The NFT world is filled with good actors and bad actors. Unlike other more mature markets, there isn’t necessarily a structure to resolve disputes and there also isn’t some protocol that manages matters of justice. This in itself is not all that bad, the space is new and new solutions exist for managing adjudication. For example, code written within the NFT itself could in the future automate its own security in some ways therefore not necessarily needing the equivalent of a court, or central entity to oversee all matters. But that’s beside the point, within the flourishing metropolis of NFT trading there is a vigilante holding bad actors accountable. @zachxbt most recently received an SOS from @0x_fxnction and promptly got to the bottom of things. He recovered 50k and has uncovered enough hard evidence from the blockchain that he’s in communication with the FBI.

His line of work is a specialty and he’s rightfully named it Crypto Scam Reseach. This is a strong example of a type of initiative that Vitalik Buterin might envisage for the Ethereum blockchain. Specifically, ZachXBT’s work is operating as a public good, and the public can fund it through Gitcoin, an optimized market for public goods. In other words, the role he’s taken up is one of the first working examples of what decentralized justice can look like.

Needless to say, @zachxbt is pushing the space in a more transparent direction. Most of the people that tend to dislike his work are the ones pulling the same type of scams.
